There seem to be an abysmal decline in queries according to the Oveture Keyword JULT tool

http://inventory.ove...ory/suggestion/

The same keywords We have been monitoring for two years - have taken an "extreme" decline

Is this a change in Alogorithms (eliminating SPAM searches) or just programming flaws

According to Overture their July click report and August impression numbers are "skewed"

We found huge differences. Also a large jump in impressions for the period July31 thru Aug 6.

Typical of stats from our keyword list was LITERATURE HOLDER. For July the click report number was 89, the impressions 1996 and the impressions for Jul 1 - Aug 6 was 1534.

No explanation from Ov except to be assured that the clicks count we were charged for is totally accurate - of course

Hi displays.

Thanks for the update and welcome to the forums.

Other than researching keywords, does anyone use the search volumes provided by Overture in other ways?

It would be nice to have a better resource of estimated monthly search volumes which could be used to estimate a site's search traffic market potential.

"Search Engine" "Search Engines"

[Deleted long keyword lists.  Please just explain what you're saying, no need to post long lists. - Jill]

000, I think we agree that the search volumes stated by Overture are all over the map. But why does it matter to you? Are you using the numbers in some way?

The modified keyword
results are now showing a drastic increase - it would be interesting to see if either:

Yahoo! or Msn search

results were not previously calculated - this would give a valuable insight as to how much traffic was coming from them and how much INFLUENCE they have...

;)

How would you use Overture's data differently if you did know that?

Good question, SEO. That sounds like one for Overture. Basically, I don't think it's a high priority for them because they're providing the information solely for the purpose of keyword suggestions. While the August or July data would surely vary a bit, it's probably not different enough to raise any major red flags with Overture.
