I just got a voice mail from someone who wants to talk to me about increasing my site's revenue through the Yahoo Publisher Network. Since when do they cold call? And since when do they cold call numbers on the national do not call list?

Do you have PPC accounts with them? Are you an Ambassador? I can't understand why they would just randomly call people like that. That's weird! Did you accidentally opt-in for something you didn't realize?

No, no and no. I have AdSense on one site I manage. I've never dealt with Yahoo for PPC either as a publisher or an advertiser, except for managing my former employer's Overture campaign, but that ended when I went freelance in early 2003, and any contact information they may have had for that account would have involved my office there.

That's bizarro! That's bogus that they don't respect the DNC registry. It's not the best way for them to revamp their reputation with their content network.
Sigh.

True, it may have been someone who doesn't work for Yahoo. They left a toll-free number though, so it's a business.

Toll free does not always equal a business.
You can have a personal toll free numbers - all the phone companies offer it for any household.

If you get a written confirmation, then the information could be validated. Orelse you may wait till the next call.
