They dont suck necessarily to SE's! But they suck because they put bull crap ads on there home page and try to push crap on people. If you want to put an ad on there put one like a keyword tool that helps people with ppc like AWalls tool but if you must get paid with affiliates dont throw crap in peoples faces. Like buying links and other crap!
What truly excellent advice! You don't seem to understand it, so let me explain.
I do understand it quite clearly. I know you must stand out amongst the crowd, and advertise or brand yourself in every way possible in your niche. Like I said earlier, article marketing, emails, leads, actively participate in related forums or hell maybe even a funny freakin commerical on You tube or something might create a little stir. I understand this stuff quite clearly I know you have to stand out and I personally do not rely on google soley you would be a fool to do so. But some do and he makes mockery of them over at WMW. Just tell them hey you need unique and great content or something useful for visitors that people will love and enjoy and be happy to come back to your site.
I, for one, think that is uplifting, because at least there is something one can do to improve, which sitting around whinging never achieved
You are correct any loss or hard time a person gos through will usually make them only better at what they do. And I personally right now am writing this and working on my site right now but this is a nice smoke break every now and then its fun and quite interesting. Thanks guys.

And yet you used that quote, and said "huh I wonder why this content has become a remash because your helping to promote it." Huh? Are you saying that what TW advertises causes this issue? The "remashing" is the same old rubbish everyone else has. Look around, at your site and your competitors, and tell me what is so totally unique about what you do that they shouldn't go elsewhere. How do you use content that is significantly different to everyone else?
To me, the best example of remashing is, oddly enough, SEO blogs. Something happens, everyone blogs it. Why? Aren't there ten billion other blogs doing that? How can one get traffic by being the same? That is why a few blogs, like SEOmoz do so well: they say something different, even when they say the same things. Be original people. ORIGINAL.
IMHO, you seem to want to claim TW sucks ass because you think they implied your site did, JamesDean. Wouldn't just saying "your mother does" work better? As in "your site sucks ass" "your mother does"? Seems a much quicker response!

Yeah, there are a couple of ads on there but they change around. Content changes too. Its useful, its not plagiarised from anywhere.
I do have a lot of tags on there which effectively create new pages with duplicate content I guess? Maybe its the sucky links I got from creating pages on xanga etc.
I dunno, maybe I'm just a white hat who needs a hug haha:

Yes they are apart of it clearly but not the whole problem. They get tons of traffic hell alexa at 2017 and like i said yes they are the part because they help promote a service that contributes to content scraping, link purchasing instead of good quality ads that will help not hurt. Yeh I know its anyones choice to purchase anything they want but when you have a big influence on people and your throwin crap in there face sucks.
yeh like if your in retail put up a nice forum, great problem solving articles, offer for people to place a nice picture and story about there widget, have video like hsn on your site, or heck maybe even frogger or something
They never implied that my site sucked just so you know.

If you're upset that DG said sites feeling a penalty right now probably suck ass and didn't give any useful help... he clearly did. Make your site not suck ass. He even outlined some of the issues like remashed content and overwhelming ads.
I still can't quite figure out why you are taking this so personally, JamesDean. The more you argue it and take shots at people who've done nothing to you that I'm aware of, the more obvious it is that you feel personally offended by Threadwatch, DG and Google somehow.
Actually, none of that's very original. Original, by its very nature, is something new and unlike the other stuff done before. Following other people's formulas isn't original.

Where? Which sites?
Posted 25 January 2007 - 11:01 PM
Yes they are apart of it clearly but not the whole problem.
If we start making our definitions wishy-washy, we all lose. By the "remash = suck arse" defintion, TW does not suck are because they have original content.
By some other criteria, TWt might suck ass (the design is annoying), but that is a different argument.
Besides, by your logic, Google suck arse, because they sometimes show results for such software. Bit of a stretch to me...
No, something original. Putting lipstick on a pig still won't make is kissable ('cept to freaks).
The problem with keyword research is that people often all say the same things, putting the same words into content. Whilst there is nothing wrong with that, it does means you can rarely be more relevant than Joe down the itnerweb a bit, whos says pretty much the same stuff, probably just as blandly. Such similar content also constitutes a remash. Solution: do as Eminem suggests in the 8 Mile Battle: "Hey meat head, pay attention, your saying the same that he said. Look, here's a pencil, go home, write something suspenseful, and don't come back 'til something dope hits you.".
Then what do you care? Either you are always angry at people who (for free) don't provide a level of service (for free) that you like (did I mention the cost: free?) or, as it looks like to me, you took the idea of a sucks ass penalty personally, because you feel deep down your site does suck ass. Bad impression to leave, no?

Well text link ads for a start is crap. They are clearly selling links for SE's not for the traffic generated for the site owner or they would make it a requirement for a no follow to be added by publishers if they sold it just for traffic.
Text link Ads.......Buy text link ads to improve your traffic and search engine rankings
Buying links isnt this what google has been trying to fight that and content scraping. And you got a huge site like TW who promotes this crap and throws it in everyones face.
Posted 25 January 2007 - 11:04 PM
All stuff done before, over and over again. Unoriginal. Double yawn.
Why do they have to tell Google (via nofollow) that they don't trust the sites that bought their links?
Posted 25 January 2007 - 11:15 PM
Yeh your right you cant beat free. But crap throwing another thing because im sure they have hundreds of thousands of loyal subscribers who would probably jump if they said how high
Oh and my site doesnt suck. Its not to shabby for a new retail site in the works. Let alone all of the other stuff I got going on.
So hell php if you arent married but might soon, you might end up playing frogger or chatting with brides on my site, and heck maybe even send your wedding pictures and a story about your wedding, or maybe a nice postcard from where you got married you never know. LOL!

Yes i know but I wasnt speaking for every niche just my particular competetors are not doing this so it would be original around my neck of the woods. And obviously I know its been done before long time ago.
I was saying selling links for se's is crap. And the no follow added to links they sell would make it for traffic not SE's

That is your job to work out.
See, that is the issue, the what. Originality doesn't always come from different elements, like games or fourms, but a different spin on the same thing. Look at Woot to see original and different (and no, it isn't my site).
If everyone writes content the same way, who wins is pretty much luck. If everyone has the same bits anbd Bobs, ditto.
So it did offend you that someone would even imply that it did suck, didn't it? We all think our baby is fantastic, and no one likes to hear it isn't, especially when they haven't even looked at it. Nothing wrong with that, but it can pay to see other people's reasons for a view, rather than attack them for it, and try to prove it is them that suck. Besides which, even if TW sucks ass, that won't prove your site doesn't
Posted 26 January 2007 - 12:27 AM
I already said I knew what would be original in my particular niche. Some of the things I said probably wouldn't work out in some one elses area but in mine it would differentiate me from close competetors which is always a plus.
Yeh I liked the woot thing that is clearly original.
