Are Old But Unused (not Live) Domains Still Powerful?
Posted 02 January 2007 - 05:42 PM
We all know that google like old domains. But does the domain need to have been live to benefit?
For example, is a domain which was register in 2000 but has never be live, still a lot stronger than a domain which was registered in 2006 but has been live for 2 months?

The clock doesn't start ticking until the engines have seen links pointing to the domain.
FTR, I don't know that Google or any of the rest like Old Domains. They like Well Established Domains, but that's a completely different thing than simply being old.

If you can get an uninterrupted live site domain that doesn't expire but just transfers to you, then it seems to be fine. But once they expire, they seem to start over from scratch. Just what I've seen! YMMV.
