I can't see your post, but by going on the title I'd have to agree.

Pages are loading very slow and I'm getting an error message not loading anything quite often too.

I hope Jill will manage to get the forum up and running again quickly, before I'm getting withdraw symptoms.

crossfingers.gif to make the post work.

What happened to the forum?

It was down all of yesterday.

I guess, by the look of it, you where making some changes eh...

Funny how it becomes a habit to vist here.

When I tried to access HR forum yesterday I found myself looking at the "Page not availabe" sign and wondered, oh..., what do I do now!

Now you are back I have small problem. I cant find the Spell-Checker.

Ah well, I am sure it will turn up.

It's a forum upgrade. Unfortunately, our database is so large that it takes forever to run and uses up all the resources.

Scottie has been working very hard to get it all back in place. There's a few cosmetic things left, but hopefully all the large queries are done running!

I think the server is back to normal now. Don't worry- gettting the spell checker back on is on today's list with about a thousand other little things. And I know it's still pretty ugly... just bear with me.

What was supposed to be a 5-6 hour upgrade turned into a 25 hour upgrade. We just have too many posts! smile.gif

Why not purge posts (or archive them) past a certain date? I suppose its good to have the reference but sooner or later you will run out of disk space tongue.gif

I like the new Ajax functionality smile.gif

I feel your pain Scottie. Especially since I spent all last week prepping a new server to go Live and all last weekend migrating some 200 or so domains from an old machine I'm retiring over to the new one. eek.gif

No matter how well you prepare for such upgrades there always seem to be at least a couple of niggling issues that pop up just to keep life interesting.

One thing I've noticed, when somebody posts something as "code", the color of the text in the box is so light you can't read it (or at least my vintage eyes can't read it biggrin.gif ). For an example, see this post. Is there any way to make that "code" text darker to help out us chronologically challenged members?

BTW, glad the forum's back. I had serious withdrawal symptoms going by yesterday afternoon... lol.gif

That's deliberate. We're doing a test to see if we can trigger an "invisible text" penalty.

The rollover hyper link color turns pretty much white on white on the breadcrumbs above. Also on purpose?

Still working out the kinks in the colors... will probably be tomorrow before I'm caught up. But yes, this current skin is pretty puke.gif It's the default skin with some of our old colors, but I'm still replacing stuff and looking at the new classes, etc to get all the details right.

Hang in there one more day and then you can give me the stuff that's still wrong. I've got quite a few things to update still.

Yesterday the forum was shades of blue.

Fresh looking and clean

Now its gone grey, why!

Looks so drab, like a rainy day in London.

Come on! Im starting a vote for blues...

Anyone?
