Pdg Commerce Cart
Posted 24 September 2006 - 07:44 PM
I'm pretty experienced in HTML and the front end of e-commerce sites, but I need help with the back end. I feel this package has most everything I want, but it sure would feel good to hear from somebody on this board about it.
I've looked into miva, monster, x-cart, volusion and apple pie as well as zen cart and oscommerce. I liked volusion, but I want to use php since I have some experience in it.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Of course, whether it will be the best solution for you depends on your individual project requirements, so a general recommendation from the folks here that it seems to be a good package will only take you so far.
I believe last time I looked, they had their user documentation available for free in PDF format on their site, so you could always download that, read it over and see if it seems the back end is something you can work with. Any additional questions you might have about specific functionality or features would then best be directed to the folks at PDG. They're usually very responsive.

There is a trade-off when you are looking for additional functionality and personalization to your business, and the back-end programming is the difference. You may be able to find someone who can assist you, and I have found the PDG people very helpful.

Thanks for the replies and info. I'd rather face the learning curve and have functionality anyday.
I looked over the documentation and it reminds me of setting up webtrends at my present job. Tons of options and setup, but nothing hideous. I'll just look into it a bit deeper before I decide.
