Early night?? It's not even 2:00 PM! :)

Besides, early for me is anything before 1AM...

Thanks Scottie. I can definitely vouch that 1AM is early for you (she says yawning).

OWG - good to know my writing can put you to sleep. :applause:

Thanks to Robert Clough for picking up the article in his newsletter.

Chris-
Great article that I caught by Robert's newsletter. Extremely relevant. I see people in the industry everyday get stuck in their own jargon. A good indicator of a jargon keyword is when they telly you the word they wish to focus on and you go What is that? :fingerscrossed:

Opps, sent to quick...I read your article last night in Robert's newsletter but know you wrote it. Sorry if it sounded like Robert wrote the article. :fingerscrossed:

Great article, Christine. Keyword research is one of the toughest things to explain to prospective clients. They think they know their terms, but they're usually far from thorough and only marginally targeted.

Jean - Welcome to the forum. Glad you made it FINALLY!!! Jean is a dear friend and a talented web designer, SEO, Public relations guru, etc. She can do everything and has a great sense of humor too. Good to have you here Jean!

Jill - that article has been sitting on my site for months when Robert asked about it. I figured keyword research articles were a dime a dozen and that the subject had been beaten to death.

Okay Jill, I have homework over the holidays to get you at least one article - I promise. I'll IM you a list of topics.

Thanks Ed and Skyline Jill for the kind words. It's always a little scary putting an article out there. You never know how it's going to be received.

It was a good read and while obvious, it was exactly that part that we tend to overlook.... the razor example was a cool one... did the test at work and everyone except for the surfer dude/designer said shave and he said scooter!!!

The "razor" test seems to work best with 9 year olds. In that selected market segment none of kids I asked came back with "shaving" when I asked about a "razor." Granted my research wasn't extensive enough to be statistically significant, but still it made the point that you need to consider the language people in your target market are actually using to describe products.

Thanks for the feedback! I guess surfer dudes and 9 year olds have a lot in common. :notworthy:

Ok, then I'll hold you to your new article for me after the holidays, Chris. Don't forget!

And welcome, Jean! :aloha: Any friend of Chris's is a friend of ours! Did we meet you in San Jose?

I knew she looked familiar! She joined us after the Looksmart reception on the upstairs patio, I think.

Welcome Jean! :aloha:

Yes, you met Jean at the San Jose Conference. She was with us at the LookSmart reception and in the hotel karaoke bar that night we closed it down. :aloha:

Jean's a great lady and has a lot of talent.

Christine
