Hello All.

Well I've tried asking Yahoo by emailing them via the support pages, alas no reply.

I have a site "www.domain.com/skoda" that sells Skoda car parts, I assume that I should submit to "United Kingdom > Automotive Parts > Saab" for inclusion.

However...
We also sell volkswagon parts under the same domain. "www.domain.com/volkswagon"

Where should I submit?
Anyone had this issue before?

Thanks
John

You realize you have to pay $299 per year for this Yahoo submission, right?

Personally, I don't feel it's worth it.

That said, you can submit to either category and also request the additional category when you're submitting. I haven't submitted to Yahoo in many years, but that's at least how you used to do it.

Yes, thats what lead to the question tongue.gif

I'm think I'll just submit to one category, strange that even google still recommends it though.

Submitted to DMOZ last week, I'm now off to build a house, hope I'm listed before It's finished. thinking.gif

Thanks
John

They're not paying the $299 each year.

The UK Yahoo directory is free... although harder to get into.

I think paying for a US directory listing may get you into both though.

IMO, I agree with Jill that the annual fee isn't really worth it... but only for established sites that already have a decent amount of quality links. If you don't have many qualitylinks yet or especially if you are just starting out, the Yahoo directory can be a very good quality TRUSTED link to get.

Personally I also like the MS Small Business Directory as well which is more reasonably priced and you get some quality anchor text keyword links as well.

Jill, I am surprised that you would not recommend Yahoo directory. I am sure I optimize less than you do and your experience is greater, but I found Yahoo to play a positive role for rankings.

Do you believe that Google gives absolutely no value to a link from Yahoo directory?

No, of course not. Google gives the same value to a Yahoo directory link as any other link of the same link popularity.

Why in the world would one of you administrators or moderators not suggest setting up a blog and the easy process of getting indexed within a few days in yahoo absolutely FREE.

It still works you know, or do you? Or did you ever?

I just can't believe it. Are you not as good as you think your are?

Everyone and their mother does it this way. I've been doing it since yahoo started the whole prossess. There isn't anything much easier to do on the internet than to get indexed in yahoo quickly and for FREE.

Smarter? Who knows.

But I'd be pretty embarrassed if I were running this board
and didn't know how to get indexed quickly in yahoo for free
and didn't make every effort to let my readers know how to
do it.

After all these months of perusing your board and noticing
many incorrect assumptions and inaccuracies I'm convinced
that you need to go back and review your internet education.

You guys are WAY BEHIND on an awful lot of stuff.

Will this post survive. Doubtful.
