I own a fairly new website (about 3 months old) and has a good ranking in MSN for a targetted keyword. However Google and Yahoo don't list it at all. Obviously it's possibly in a sandbox period for Google. I heard of similar about yahoo, but is there really one?

Hi there MadHatter! Welcome to HR!

I've never really heard of a Yahoo sandbox at all, I ran an onsite search for 'yahoo sandbox' and there was nothing immediate.

hmmm- anyone else?

Nope. No sandbox at Y!

They are however notorious for being much slower on the uptake when spidering. Especially with newer sites. So I suppose that could feel like some sort of sandbox.

FWIW, when we refer to something being caught in an aging delay or sandbox it's typically all about rankings, not a site being spidered and indexed. What happens if you do a site: type of search at Yahoo? Are all of the pages indexed and just not ranking well? Or has the site not yet been fully indexed?

when doing site:www.site.com - it comes up and lists a few of my pages. Not all, but a few.

I may have phrased it wrong. Google/Y! list the website, they are indexed, they just rank horribly if at all. (can't find them in the top 500 of any terms)

However it's always top 5 in MSN. Which MSN search is strange anyways but..

Prolly need to do a better job of getting the word out about your site so that other sites link to it.

Yup. Getting more links is the place to start. Both Google and Yahoo are more sensitive to incoming links than is MSN.
