Put me in the "likes new windows" category. If I'm interested in the page I'm on, but also want to follow a link on that page, I almost always right click and open a new window (I'd do a new tab like DL7, but I'm not using a tabbed browser
). Sometimes, for whatever reason, the back button doesn't work as planned and I don't like to take a chance on having to remember the URL of the referring page.
I also do that alot when searching. If I come across SERPs with what appear to be several relevant pages, I'll right-click and new-window 'em all and let them all load simultaneously. Whichever page loads first, I'll start with that and work my way through until I either find my answer or discover I need a different search criteria (or a whole different search engine
Of course, I realize I'm a power user, not a typical surfer. So my preferences are probably not relevant when evaluating the preferences of the majority of site visitors.
