Pronunciation Of The Word "niche"
Posted 18 August 2006 - 01:37 PM
I pronounce niche as "nitch". The client corrected me and said the word is pronounced "neesh".
I didn't want to stir up anything so I sorry, neesh. I realize that the word can be pronounced either way.
What's the preferred way to pronounce it, neesh or nitch?

*Pronounced eether, and not ither, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

No matter how it's pronounced, it's just another overused "cliche". LOL

Ok then... clique: clik or cleek?

And then there's garage as "geraaarje", and schedule as "skedule", and router as "rowder"

Never heard Nitch.
It's a bit like the term "nouveau riche" which I would pronounce reesh rather than rich. Maybe that is different in the US too?

Now I'm really confused... because he's gone all "french" on me.
I know we both speak a form of English - but there's a heck of a lot of differences...
