They may.
I wouldn't hold my breath that it'll continue to work.
Remember, Google has always had some serious canonical issues, ones that they're finally starting to work on.
That said, for the domain spammers a 302 doesn't really work. Since with a 302 the original domain is the one that continues to rank, if the original domain has already been roasted and toasted so that it doesn't rank, a 302 does them no good. Nothing would rank with a 302 either.

Just an update to this thread that everyone so kindly contributed to.
It's now 11 months since moving domains and although I can't say the aging delay has ended, I am starting to see some evidence that maybe it's easing off.
In July we had a little under 700 visitors from the engines, largely from google, but in august this dropped dramatically. Google traffic dropped from 555 in July to just 72 in August
Yahoo traffic has stayed pretty steady, with a slight average increase month on month.
Google traffic stayed at around 70 - 100 visitors until November, when we had a slight but definite increase. I assume this was at least partly due to Xmas, December and January were pretty rubbish in terms of Google traffic.
February started out much the same, with barely a trickle of traffic from G, but on Feb 14th google sent <sarcasm>a whopping</sarcasm> 10 visitors in 1 day. I thought this was just one of those inexlicable spikes but they have continued to send more than previous numbers of visitors and so far this month we've had 104 from them, at this rate we might even beat November, which was the best month since July.
To summarise, nothing concrete has happened and there hasn't yet been any kind of 'bounce' back, but I'm optimistic about the signs and hope that this is the begining of the end of the aging delay. I'm so pleased we've never relied on Google for our sole income as so many have/do, frustrating though this whole thing has been at least we've been able to continue making sales from other sources.
I'll update this thread again when I have more to add.
