If a site is written in MIVA code instead of HTML, does that affect SEO in any way? I ran a quick WebPosition Page Critic on the home page of a MIVA site and it reports no HEAD section, no BODY section and some other missing stuff. Perhaps I have the wrong page filename, but when I put it into my browser I see the home page. And when I view source, it looks like normal HTML.

I'm just confused by the Page Critic results, and wondering what's different about a site written in MIVA. It's a totally new term to me.

Thanks!
Bill

I don't know anything about Webposition's Page Critic since I completely discounted it in like 1997 when I saw how ridiculous it was.

That said, Miva code, to my knowledge has to be HTML. What else could it be?

I've never used Page Critic to analyze any pages of my site (which uses Miva 4.24) but I know you can edit the code found within the head and body tags of Miva pages using some Miva 3rd party modules. You might want to post your question at the Miva Forum (http://extranet.miva...orums/index.php). There's quite a few regular contributors there that are Miva experts. HTH

Miva outputs html like anything else. You are probably using the MMUI look and feel for v4x. The OpenUI Look and Feel is a third-party module that is a big reason Miva Merchant still exists today. It will give you head/body tag access and a gazillion other features that don't come out of the box.
