Hi,
Last month I got listed on DMoz - or rather my old URL got updated to the new one.
I noticed that Google seemed to pick this up the week before the Florida update, but now its gone back to the old URL?
Is this usual? Anything to worry about?
Clare

It took a while for all the Google directory servers to synchronize with the new data. (Kind of a Google Dance on the directory.) Rumor has it that as of December 5th, they were all updated. This is probably what caused you to see the old information for the listing. Check again.

Thanks,
Dmoz shows the correct URL.
Google directory the old, incorrect, one this morning.
An idea when the next Google update will take place, end of December?
Thanks for your help,
Clare

The Google directory uses data from the ODP RDF (a datafile that includes all the public listings from the ODP.)
Google updates this information on their own schedule. In the past, Google has updated their directory as frequently as once a month, and has had periods of as long as eight months without an update.
The current data in the Google Directory is from October 25th, 2003. The most recent data available is from December 3rd. (The directory dumps to the RDF once a week barring glitches.)
Prior to the most recent update, Google was incorporating descriptions from dmoz.org for sites that were listed in dmoz, but not in the Google directory. As near as I can tell, this has stopped, and the Google directory is now the source for descriptions and directory location.
