Changing Company Name
Posted 22 June 2006 - 03:47 AM
My company is currently going through the process of rebranding and changing our company name. Our existing website, ranks fairly highly in google etc for our major keywords.
When we rebrand the company we intend to change all the URL's from www.existingcompanyname.co.uk to www.newcompanyname.co.uk - and all the references to the old company name in the website copy will be changed to the new company name. I would be very grateful for any advice as to how this may or may not affect our Google positioning?

Then you'll know all about the aging delay thread and the 301 redirect thread
If you consider that most, if not all your rankings will likely disappear for 6 to 12 months no problem, then you won't be affected at all
been there, done it for a client just as the aging delay appeared on the Google scene. luckily their website was merely a "vanity" site.
