Huh! They weren't there yesterday when I followed your link the first time, webkid_san. But I just tried again and there they are today, bigger than life itself. And all of 'em in Raleigh, which would make sense as I'm on a Raleigh-based IP address at the moment.

And I'm definitely not logged in, either.

It's picking up IP location because when I clicked the link yesterday it pulled Chattanooga real estate schools.

The method isn't 100% useful to the user.

I viewed the link through two connections, one of which was aol.

I got listings for MO through the first, (this is accurate) however, through aol I get listings for VA and MD.

My point is, for those with dial-up, they might not get accurate results.

Welcome wowdezign ! hi.gif

The really silly part of it all is when aol.co.uk users get Maryland and Virginia local results, since they also often use US-based IP Proxies.

Local should mean you can hit it by lobbing an amateur rocket into the air. I've yet to see a truly amateur rocket that can fly all the way across the Atlantic. lol.gif

Thanks for the welcome!

I guess my next question then is:

Why implement a method that is not accurate?

It makes it MSN local results. wacko.gif

Ah but it is accurate.

It's AOL who are getting it wrong (No surprise there then)

No, MSN can fix this. AOL IPs are well known, as is the relationship between AOL IPs and user geography.

Of course they could, but why would (or should) they?
