I've noticed that there are "Edit" and "Delete" links on every listing there. I haven't tried it (I'm not quite malevolent enough) but if any editor can edit or delete listings, you've got an even greater opportunity for abuse.

Whoever created this directory is a very trusting soul

Or are they just collecting names for a marketing push?

I agree with what Elisabeth says about Business.com, I think it's well worth the dollars to be listed there.

IMO a lot of the specialized niche directories are worth paying to be listed in. Free ones are the best of course, but even if you have to pay a small fee like Business.com I think it's worth it because once you're listed you can:

attract buyers in your industry
establish yourself if you're a new biz or
maintian credibility if you're an established biz
use it as a source to publish articles
find promotional partners
inquire about discounted ad rates
count on getting a great backlink!

Regarding onemission.com - I noticed you can't get out of there when you hit the back button. That really annoys me.....

Thanks... what constitues the top 20 directories differs by business. There are smaller professional directories that should have huge impact for relevance for that particular industry.

That OneMission site looks bizarrely vulnerable. It will be a complete mess in very short order if they don't tighten up.

Just for kicks...go see if you can modify and/or delete my listing:

well...your listing is deleted.

the sad thing is that the account used to delete your listing was completely garbage

userid: abcdefg
email addy: typed in random garbage with a yahoo.com and had editor privileges in a split second.

doesn't check for a valid email address and gives way to much access :drunk:

- that directory is garbage!

I'm gonna report you to....um.....to OneMission? Nah, I don't think they'd even understand....

Thank you for playing.

OneMission - "you ARE the weakest link...directory."

As I said earlier, I created a brand new category out of the sky.

The fresh from the oven category has a PageRank 4, and Google doesn't even bother to list it as a back link.

That should tell you what Google thinks of it. :D

Why do I think One Mission is on a Mission to Nowhere??? :halo:
