Hi
I would like to develope a java tool which crawls all my affiliate sites and tells me whether they are using the latest banners.
Since I would like to my affiliates use the latest christmas banners, I developed a tool which will tell me which affiliate is using what banner.
However before I use and sell the tool, I was wondering whether I can call MSN database automatically to get my affiliate url's.
Is it allowed? Can Somebody clarify this?
With Regards
Aravind

Aravind,
Honestly, while I cannot speak for whether this is "allowed" or not, I would imagine that it would be possible to write a tool that scrapes the results of an MSN search. I picked up a copy of the "Google Hacks" book back when it first came out & there is an example of scraping Google's results using Perl (hack #44). While I know that this is for Google not MSN & uses Perl not Java, the technique could probably be translated.
(NOTE: I am not very well versed in Java, so I do not know what it's text processing capabilities are.)
As for directly connecting to MSNs database, I have never tried. If you replicate the form from the MSN site via a Java app & then have the app catch & scrape the results, that might work.
HTH!
