MSN is doing what Google should have done a long time ago and have instituted a meta tag to opt out of them using the ODP description for your MSN description!
Let's hope Google follows suit, as well as Yahoo with showing their crappy Yahoo Directory titles!

So this way they will use the description that you have in your tags?
Edit* I answered my own question, and it is yes.

The insinuation is that the snippet will be pulled from what's on the page instead. They don't really say though.
Either way, it's certainly an improvement AFAIC ! Kudos to MSN for being the first out of the box. Let's hope the others jump on board. Anybody got Google and Yahoo voodoo dolls we can use to make it happen?

Ahhh, man....
I was on a trip when you guys brought this up, and I only look at the "Today's Posts" list, so I actually thought this was news.....
I'm so out of date. Next thing you know I'll find out that askjeeves is thinking of getting rid of the butler or something...
Excuse me, I have to get back to editing metatags - they are the latest thing, ya know...

Psst, Ian!
You might want to check out this new "Google" SE, too. I'm given to understand that Alta Vista is in for some serious competition...
