I have been using a shopping cart system for one of our companies e-commerce site. I set it up a couple of years ago when I was new to web design and SEO.
I need to step up to a more feature rich admin section. What I am using right now has very limited control. I built the site using buy objects that with php on a Unix server and MySQL database. I am by no means a developer nor do I know how to write php scripts, but learned to edit and understand the code.
There are a few ecommerce packages out there that offer the features and control that we are looking for but I am not sure what is the best method of transition. I would like to keep the current design and stay away from dynamically generating templates if I could. I also don't want tohave the site down for any length of time while making the switch.
Can anyone suggest or offer insight as to the best methods or things to look out for.
Thanks,open for suggestions.
