Thank you Aussie for your very clever and funny comment, and to you searchrank for pointing out the solution to my problem.

ROFL Cute story Aussie. Though that's not quite what I'm saying.

My point is simply what I said before. The link: command does not neccessarily tell you which sites linking to you count as backlinks and pass PR. The tool was never designed to do this, plain and simple.

People started to assume this is what the tool does for some odd reason, without any hint of verification from the folks who created the tool. And some continue to rely on it to tell them something it was never designed to tell them.

Ranch, I agree wholeheartedly that framesets can cause issues with the search engine visability. They've gotten better about them over the years, but still...

On the other hand, if I had a site with framed content because that's what the visitors stated they clearly preferred, I'd likely keep the frames just because that's what customers and potential customers wanted. Even if the framesets caused SE issues.

Even though my site get's plenty of SE-traffic at the moment it's always important to be one step ahead. How do you keep your rankings, conversion rate etc.

Thanks to this forum it turns out that frames causes problems in getting the full PR-benefit from internal links. For the moment a redesign is not an option as it is quite timeconsuming, meaning there are more efficient ways to spend time. For now I will concentrate on building link popularity.

But its very comforting to have another option should SE-traffic eventually slow down.

I thought it was standard that only 4 and above showed in the backlinks... guess I really do spend way too much time in front of the glowing monster... STEP AWAY FROM THE TERMINAL....
