I would like to ask if anyone has had there webaddress removed from DMOZ by accident or on purpose...

Yes I have seen this happen. It's hard to tell if it is accidental, on purpose or even malicious. You can try contacting the editor in the category your site was listed in, asking them why the site was removed and if it can be re-included. If you do not get any response, you'll have to resubmit and then play the ODP waiting game.

I have a suspicion that a rival company is trying harm our market share.

My first guess is that it's a bug, not malice. Ask about it at resource-zone.

hi Xixtas.... would you please remove that ODP´s link from this forum ... I know you want to help, but posting the guidelines in a public forum can get you into trouble..plus it´s not right - I´m not going to say anything so don´t worry about me..but if you get caught by a Meta.. hiihihhi .. you already know what would happen..

I´m here to help too. so if any of you guys need some advice to get listed at DMOZ, we (Xixtas and I) would be more than happy to help.

I know you´re trying to help Xixtas... but do the right thing... Buddy

Hi Kin

Welcome to the forums

I think its fine to post links to helpful stuff :D

If an odp editor has any issues with this forum linking to their guidelines then they are welcome to raise it with one of the administrators.

Hi Kin,

As you noticed, that particular link is one that you can drill into from the front page without any editor privs. Thanks for watching out for me though. It's nice to know that other editors have my back. ;)

Ummm...where is that "first rule of submission?"

Sorry for the delay Fritz, I was referring to this

You should submit a site to the single most relevant category.  Sites submitted to inappropriate or unrelated categories may be rejected or removed.

This is the first rule of submission, after all the stuff about whether or not your site is suitable for submission. I was not referring to the title tag. sorry if my lack of punctuation muddied the waters ;)

I've found that submitting to a category that has an editor listed at the bottom, then about a week after submission, send the editor(s) a small email in a friendly tone asking them the status on it and expressing your gradatude on anything they could tell you, usually gets a response. I've had editors tell me they're backed up but will get to it in about a month, to editors telling me they've missed it, and would get it up as soon as they could. If you're submitting multiple sites (if you're an SEO,) you may end up building a relationship with a few editors, and will have an easy in for future clients. The editors are usually computer nerds just like us. And when they can, they like to have conversations. Capitalize on that and make a few friends in powerful spots. Then if you need to submit to a category with no editors, You've got a friend on the inside that can help you out.
