usually actually mean-spirited.

It's not. You can say "bless his heart" and mean it as sympathy. The whole "bless his heart" thing is a joke. Don't worry about it. Nobody is going to think you were being mean.

I was planning a trip to hawaii sometime next month, but I hear it's pretty "not typical" due to heavy rains / flooding this year...

Denver!!!!!!!

Colorado is ABSOLUTELY beautiful in the Fall. The mountains look spectacular in Aspen gold. Fall is a great month for hiking too- less crowds than in the summer, and the weather is still warm enough to enjoy being outdoors. And for wildlife lovers, Fall is rutting season so you can see huge herds of elk.

Of course, there are also good business reasons to go to Denver. biggrin.gif

Well, you know I would vote for St. Louis. Or Kansas City. Or maybe even Branson if you wanted a more homesy experience. whistling.gif

OK, so we have:

Hawaii

Denver

St. Louis

Kansas City

Texas

What other suggestions?

How about:

Hilton Head, SC

Charleston, SC

Phoenix or Tucson, Arizona

Tenneessee

We can do a poll. Is this all the suggestions?

I'll second Kansas City!! Right in the middle of the US, so the same distance for both groups on the coast to travel, and they never do any fun Internet-type seminars here. Then I might actually be able to go!

Though I did live in Austin for a couple years, I'd love to have an excuse to go down to visit.

Hillbilly folkiness. lol.gif

There are a bunch of Live theaters in Branson, almost all of them featuring (usually aging) country music artists. And the whole community plays up the Ozark Hillbilly angle. Not my cup of tea, but I do go there every year or two just for their Christmas in Branson celebration.

lol, that's a good way to describe Branson. One of those places you just have to experience to understand.
