This isn't exactly about the forum getting press; it's more a matter of the forum being viewed as the press.

I've been subscribing to the RSS feed of a Yahoo blog search on the word branding for months, and today I noticed, I believe for the first time, that posts here in HR are coming up in the feed. I'm not sure what to make of that. The blog search (which is in beta) is part of the news search, so I don't know if that means that HR has been designated a news resource, or if forums are being treated as blogs. HR doesn't come up for that search on Google's blog search.

It does appear that it's getting picked up as a blog for Yahoo.

I would imagine the reason for that is our very cool RSS feed that broadcasts the forum posts pretty easily... much like most of the blog software.

No doubt, but we've had lots of posts that were relevant to the word "branding" before, and it's only now that we're coming up on the blog search. That's the mysterious bit.

Yep, I'm sure it's new, Bob. I wonder if it will bring a lot more traffic? We're coming up for all kinds of search engine terms in that blog search. Has that blog search been around awhile?

I've been subscribed to the feed for at least a few months, but if you want to know how long the blog search has been around you should probably go to the Yahoo Search Blog and search there for mentions of the Yahoo Blog Search tongue.gif

I've been seeing HighRankings and several others forums all over the Google blogsearch for several months. I'm pretty sure they are just picking up any RSS feed they can find, because I've come across other RSS-distributed content that I know for a fact is not blog-based.

The blog searches are not really blog searches. They are just RSS feed searches which happen to include blogs.

ON EDIT: So far as I can tell, the feeds are used to drive the crawls that fetch the content. So the actual content is being indexed, not simply the descriptive text in the feeds.

Uhm, I haven't posted in HR for several months, and when I posted a few days back, HR forums came up in Google Blog search for the search on my username. Dunno why..

I bet it will, but you probably knew that by now, it's 11 months ago you posted that message.
Sorry for digging up old threads, though.

I don't think it did actually. But not sure if I ever checked specifically for this.
