PR is a simply a somewhat complex method of measuring link popularity.
Get more links to a page, and it will have more PR. Links are very important for SEO.
Linking for Success explains the basic concept.
You may want to take some time and read all the Tips for Newbies articles because they cover most of the questions you've been asking today!

Unless by PR ecommerce means "Public Relations" and not "PageRank".
(This is in the Publicity and Public Relations forum, after all...)
Some aspects of public relations can lead to links pointing to your site pages. The more people who know about your site, the more likely your site is to get links and traffic (assuming it's a site worthy of visiting or linking to, that is).
So, public relations -- getting the word out about your site and your business -- can lead to increased rankings, by helping your site get more incoming links.
And it can lead to increased traffic, by people reading articles by you or about you (or your products/services) and deciding to visit your site.
I recently ran across an article on MarketingProfs.com, called The New Rules of PR (where PR="Public Relations") that you might find interesting.

I have asked for Press Release and not for Page Rank.
Thanks.

If that's the case then Scottie must have misunderstood the meaning of your PR in her explanation above.
My take on this is that when you send out a news item in syndicated form to the media through PR companies, it will draw attention since people normally scan the web for news. When your news release generates interest, people start talking about it (just like Yahoo! Buzz), linking to it, and that generates importance to your page.
Search engines rank pages by importance (number of pages linking to it) and relevance (content related to search phrase) so in that manner, Press Releases help your page rank nicely on search engine results page.
