Hi Snappy111!

You're from Alberta?! How come I didn't catch that before? Whereabouts?

Anyway, AIDA is a copywriting acronym:

A = Attention (headlines, graphics, etc.)
I = Interest (speak to emotions, benefits, a need, etc.)
D = Desire/Decision (state facts/create desire to buy/reinforce benefits)
A = Action (call to action/tell audience exactly what you what them to do)

That is a very brief summation of "AIDA" and how I understand it given everything I've studied and read. Generally, by following this process in your copywriting you also mirror most buyers' decision making process when contemplation a purchase.

HTH!

roflmao.gif That was a good one, Jill. lol.gif

But, I do love to read the long posts from Michael (and a few other people) because deep down I'm jealous of their writing skills. embarrassed.gif

Hi Karri,

I'm from Calgary, and for the life of me I can't remember how to add that to my profile on this forum.

I'm working on content for a similar type client as the one you are struggling with. They have residential and commercial clients for their particular service. Someone mentioned including "signposts" within the content leading the targeted audience to the content related to them. Are signposts really just a way to tell them what to expect on the internal pages of the site? It sounds like just saying "Hey, there's something in here for you!"

This question is for anyone in the forum: How long does this content have to be and how would you design it on the home page? Side by side? One paragraph on top of another?

Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.

snappy111 - we're only a couple hours away from each other! And I used to live in Calgary up until a couple years ago. Worked at CPR downtown.

Anyway, as for the copywriting: Karon suggested I look at a website earlier on in this thread to get an idea about how to speak to 2 target markets on the home page. You might want to take a look at that. It worked beautifully.

And signposts could even just be in the form of link text too IMO. Adds to the usability of your site.

HTH.
Karri
