A lot of tools/programms are mentioned everywhere in threads. Would it not be nice to mention at one place the tools that you guys use and recommend to others.

I don't use many, but then again I also don't call myself a "guru". But anyway...
WebBug
Web Developer Toolbar (Firefox) which contains numerous tools
Copyscape
ClickTracks
My kw research is done by SEO Research Labs (but I wouldn't call them "tools" smile.gif )
Xenu
DigitalPoint Keyword Tracker
Thumbshots Rankings

The tools I use are many and varied, but the ones I rely upon the most are:

Wordpad
Wordtracker
Digital Point's Keyword Suggestion Tool

I occasionally use a number of spider-simulators, but none of them consistently.

I occasionally log into Google's AdSense system and use their keyword tools.

Keyword Discovery
Clicktracks
Google Analytics
WebPosition (with API key)
Excel
Acrobat (full version)
Word
Outlook (for email and calendar and reminders)
K9 for spam control
Firefox and numerous FF extensions that are probably some of the best tools on my plate
MSN Messenger
Xenu on occasion

That's about it I think, although I just bought Proposal Kit and the Wizard. Not sure if it will come in handy for me yet or not.

Hoy accurate, or of what relative usefulness, Do you think the SEO Research Labs Digital Point keyword suggestion tools has? (http://www.digitalpo...ols/suggestion/)

And how and where does Wordtracker and KeywordDiscovery get there data from?

Well, no guru me - more of a Svengali, if you catch my drift.

http://www.wmsconsul...seo-conference/ is a list (with minimal comments) of the tools available. I use a few of them, usually more to save time writing reports than because they are requireed or even helpful for the self service types.

HTTracker (for making an offline copy of the site)
Homesite
Word, Excel, Outlook, K9
Photoshop
FreeMind (mind mapping tool- excellent for planning or reworking site architectures)
Google Analytics, Webmaster Tools

I think most of the tools I'm using have been mentioned. In no particular order:

Keyword discovery
Google Analytics
NetTracker
Google Website Optimizer
Webmaster Tools (Google)
Google Trends and the Live equivalent
Illustrator
Photoshop
Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.
Firefox with various plug ins / toolbars: Web Developer, Google Toolbar, Search Status, User agent switcher.
Textpad (it's a beefed up notepad)
Excel
Word
Apache / MySQL / PHP
pen and paper and my brain.
