Hi,

I don't understand how directory submission is beneficial for site. I have submitted my site in more than 40 directories which have greater than PR 4. But most of the directories have dynamic urls or link back with redirected. Which is worthless.

I got listed my site in 20 to 25 directories but most of them are dynamic url sites. Again it is hard to search greater than PR 4 free oneway sites.

So Please help me to clear this point.

Suggestions Welcome!!!!!!!!!!

thanks, Yogesh angel_not.gif

Do something else! Really, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Do something else.

Yogesh -

Try reading through this thread for more info on directories our members have recommended http://www.highranki...?showtopic=1102

and visit http://www.strongest...directories.php for their list.

I know there are directories on these lists that don't redirect links. Good luck!

If I see a directory with dynamic link , I would write the web site owner a mail to tell them .In fact , not all the directory owner know the different between the static link and the dynamic ones .

Not all dynamic links are necessarily evil, or any problem at all in fact. It is wise to see what server response code they're delivering however. You'll want it to be a 301 permanent redirect.

If the directory uses a php script to redirect rather than your site's URL then the search engines won't see this as a backlink. These directories may do this to protect their own page rank or punish submissions that didn't opt to pay for inclusion.

That blanket statement is wrong roxyyo, sorry. Hence my post above.

The fact that there's a redirect/jump link involved has no bearing.

The server response code being issued by the redirect/jump link does have a very real bearing. Regardless of what server side scripting is being used to deliver it.

Blanket ban on directory submission is not suggested. There are lots of directories which don't redirect the links, only thing is, you should do some research, locate such directories and submit your link. It will surely help. However this is one of the marketing techniques use more of such techniques, do some non-reciprocal linking with related, gud PR sites. Keep adding contents to your site, write articles and submit to various forums and also place it on your site. Google adsense also helps driving in traffic so on and so forth. In short look for newer means of marketing site.

Hopefully I am posting in the correct section...... regarding submitting websites to directories, how often does it need to be done? I am pretty new to all this, so any advice to help me get a clue would be appreciated! =)

Thanks all

Remembering who you have submitted to would make 'do it once' a very difficult proposition, especially if you go back in a year or two's time from a list like this one www.pheedster.com/directories.php

There is also a huge amount of 'twaddle' on submitting to only high PR sites. If you find a new Directory, why not submit? It might get a PR 4 or 6 later on, and you have got in early. Think ahead

I kind of agree with you CTABUK, that a new directory may become a good site later on, but because there are sooooo many free directories (that aren't getting traffic) out there, that's a big maybe...and general directories are becoming less and less important to search engines.

Remembering your submissions is easy. Use a spreadsheet.

I have an excel spreasheet I am using now to keep track of my submissions....
