Very true. most of the major ones (screenreaders) provide an option to spell-out the word for the user if they're unsure. It can give them the phonetic version too (alpha, bravo etc). So may be that it is not a good option and your earlier point to put a deep page optimised for misspellings is the best way to go.
You have to consider that those people using screenreaders and mobile (Cell) phones can see/hear the misspellings, as well as the point that you also do a dis-service to those people who use Braille readers.
