My company wanted me to look in to getting better and more rankings in Yahoo, and asked me to look in to paid inclusion. All though I wasn't opposed to it, I really should have done my research and read this forum and find out the real scoop on Yahoo Search Submit product. Looks like a lot of people here say it's not worth it.
So I went ahead and submitted all pertinent URLs for our site to Yahoo. All of them have been rejected - there goes all of our money. All though our home page mainly consists of merchant links we do have a lot of content pages that have some value to our visitors, but those content pages were rejected too. Question is, I heard that Yahoo Search Submit is cracking down on affiliate sites. Would my company's site be considered an affiliate site?
So, to avoid that I submitted one URL which was a press release we launched on our page (no affiliate links at all). The PR page also got rejected too. So does Yahoo plain hate us or what.
Ths in turn also got me to think why they would reject a pure, original content page. Our domain name is a .com of the domain name as a popular .gov site. could we be getting autmatically penalized by that?
Since Yahoo sends out a canned response for rejected URLs, I'm not completely sure why were rejected. If anyone can lend some insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome RGB!
Are you using a company to do your paid-inclusion? (Or can you go directly through Yahoo these days?)
If you're using a third party such as Position Tech, Trellian or any of the others, they should be able to talk to someone at Yahoo and let you know what the problem is.

We signed up ourselves. Is it too late to go through Trellian and ask for their help. Or are their costs high for consulting?
Thanks, BTW, this is my first post. Glad to be here.

Well if you signed up directly through Yahoo, don't they provide you with any support? You are in fact a paying customer. Is there a phone number or email where you can get more info from in your account?

If your site is mainly an affiliate site, then Yahoo is not going to like it - even if you do have unique content. Sorry, I know that is not what you want to hear but from all appearances, Yahoo does not want affiliate sites in their index and to be honest with you, I don't blame them.
Now that being said, a site can have affiliate links and still get into Yahoo. It is when a site obviously exists only as an affiliate of a main product or has tons of affiliate banners and such - these are the sites that I think Yahoo does not want in their index.

Sorry, yahoo do not disclose all the reasons why a site has been rejected, even to us. But we do have a list of points that they check in their reviews and if a single one is present the URL will be rejected.
Affiliate sites or even a site with too many other affiliate based links, even if that page has good content.
This also applies to the site as a general... that is if you submit a content page with no affiliate links, but the general theme of the site is affiliate, that page will also be rejected.
There are many other reasons, such as hidden text, hard to read text, redirects etc..
Cheers
David
