Posted this today & thought I'd share:

How to Speak SEO

How to talk SEO to a CEO

Talk numbers, money, traffic. Show pretty graphs. Steer clear of tech talk.

Attire: suit
Say: “Looking at last years’ numbers, if we implement SEO to this subsection of the site, we can drive traffic up at least 15%, which means a possible $8,000 a day more than 2005.”

How to talk SEO to a Project/Product Manager

Tell them how much easier life will be with SEO:

Attire: business casual
Say: “If we implement SEO into the production process, there will be less SEO-checklists to check at the beginning of every project and there will be less time spent after every project checking how (and if) our SEO efforts were done."

How to talk SEO to a developer:

Give them a challenge – a problem to solve. A show your skills-type thing. Subliminally.

Attire: your best worn-out rock tee
Say: “I’ve heard there is a way to have unique URLs, page titles and descriptions for Ajax, do you know about this?”

How to talk SEO to an editor:

Talk “name in lights”

Attire: sweater vest
Say: “If you want people to find and read your latest ground-breaking contibution to the world, learn how to write search-friendly.”

How to talk SEO to your girlfriend/wife/boyfriend/husband/lover/mistress/pool boy:

Talk dirty if you plan on talking SEO & want to see them again.

Attire: nothing
Say: "If you let me spend just one more hour on this SEO forum, I'll (bleep your bleep bleep bleeeeeeeep)"

How to talk SEO to yourself:

Dont follow the rules above.

But the URL, Jill, it says highrankings.com... OK, fine, I'll change it. But only because I have to be your booth boy at the show and don't want to risk undue humiliation.

lol.gif That's funny because I am always pretty religious about people spelling SearchRank with the capital 'S' and capital 'R' myself.

OFFTOPIC:

Yes, the domain is HighRankings.com but the company is just plain old High Rankings.

Of course, no way to know that from my logo, now is there? embarrassed.gif

I really don't mind if people say HighRankings.com but if they are gonna just say High Rankings I like it to be 2 words. (Especially since that's what's I've trademarked!)
