It wasn't live. They interviewed Danny sitting at his desk with his three (!) monitors, and used cutaways of him surfing, typing, and of course pages from SEW when they edited.

I happened to catch Danny when it was originally aired. He made a very good point that the people in the government wanting to use the information would never have considered.
