Could this privilege of editorial choice be abused? Absolutely.
Has it been abused? Who knows?
Could Google do something about it if people started doing this? Sure. Eventually, they would compile enough statistical data based on human input to identify pages that piggy-back on trusted content domains and then they would be able to do something.
What would they do? We have no idea and even I am unwilling to speculate.
In my opinion, most trusted content domains like Highrankings (and my own) are going to be very, very choosy about whose content gets put up on their servers.
I do write feature articles on my own site about other people. They clearly get a boost in traffic from those articles. They don't necessarily get a boost in rankings in the search results, even though I provide courtesy links with the articles (if they have Web sites).

What happens if you set up some static pages on your own domain name, and link them all to an "instant" store using the provider's domain name instead of your own? You can do this with Yahoo Stores, for instance. Your URLs would look like http;//store.yahoo.com/bathgems/sho567.html. (I don't necessarily recommend Yahoo. Probably somebody else has a better instant store package.)
Wouldn't this avoid the aging delay?
