This isn't exactly press, but it's a mention in a book. The new writing book The Well-Fed Writer - Back for Seconds lists Jill's Nitty Gritty Guide and this forum as resources for online copywriting.

Okay, so it's not exactly the forum, per se, but the March 15, 2006 edition of the Internet Marketing Report newsletter quotes Jill and includes the URL for HighRankings.com as a place to get more info.

The article is entitled Crafting Web site copy that prompts action - and improves search rank. Near as I can tell, it's based on Jill's presentation on Writing for Search Engines at SES-NY.

(I just went crazy searching the High Rankings site for the examples they quoted in the article before it finally occurred to me where I might have seen them before, and sure enough, there they were on Jill's presentation slides in the Conference Handbook...)

You've got to balance strong calls to action with benefits and features while trying to unobtrusively work in search-friendly keywords. That's why copy that works on both humans and search spiders really boils down to the small details, says optimization expert Jill Whalen.

Unfortunately, near as I can tell, the IMR is print-only, so there isn't an online version I can point anyone to.

Since in the same edition, they have a case study by someone who's credited as being a speaker at SES-NY, and they mention the seed packets that LifeTips was handing out in the Exhibit Hall as a way to stand out from the crowd at a trade show in their Steal These Ideas! column, I'd say it's a good bet Progressive Business Publications had at least one person on the ground at SES.
