What do the experts in this forum think....

What's better osCommerce or Creloaded?

Which version is more Search Engine Friendly...
What sort of modifications would each require to make it SE friendly..

Thanks

I heard from a trusted source that Creloaded, which is osCommerce with preloaded mods, is the better bet, but YMMV, and I have never needed either option!

I have downloaded both about a Brazillian times, but never actually needed to install either...

I have not used Creloaded but OScommerce has SEO friendly url's with an option to turn them on in the admin section (no extensions are needed).

Please see the other threads in this Shopping Cart Forum for additional advice, as well.

CRELoaded is just osCommerce with a LOT of good contributions installed. Contributions are osCommerce 'add-ons' and are a must for any real business. I definitely recommend CRELoaded. Unless you're good with PHP then you can get osCommerce and install the contibutions yourself. But CRE saves a LOT of time.

Hi josh1r

Thanks for your input.

Well... I was looking for a good shopping cart system.

I did a lot of research and spent lot of time testing several shopping carts.

In the end I settled with X-cart.

It's not free but the support is great.

And I find X-cart easy and actually quite like the features in it.

Your store is really nice... It is very user friendly! goodjob.gif
I guess you are using creloaded?

I do agree Creloaded is better!

How long have you been running your store.?
I remember you put it up for a review.

I must say guys here are really helpful and give an excellent piece of advise.

I haven't tried creloaded but I know that osCommerce can be a bit of a bitch at the best of times smile.gif and would suggest staying away from it

however, you can rewrite the tep_href_link (does anyone know why the hell everything starts with 'tep'?) function and use that in conjunction with mod rewrite to improve your URLs but its a bit fiddly.

there is also zen cart which is very similar i think.

Hi. Thanks for the compliment! Actually, we are not using CRELoaded b/c I didn't know about it until just after we opened our store and I had already manually installed a lot of contributions. Many are quite easy, some are a bit harder. Rewriting the URLs like we did on our store is easy, though many people will tell you it's not necessary.

We've been running the store about 5-6 months, though I've had other osC sites up for years and never really had any problems. www.isplendor.com is another site of mine and that one does use CRELoaded.
