my website fluxuates from 72 to 370 links showing when I search for "californiamortgage-loan[dot]com". Is this is the SE constantly finding and deleting sites from its index? is it completely normal? whats the deal

Is it affecting your traffic and sales? If not, why bother even looking at it?

umm... Are you just searching for your domain name? Or are you using one of the special link commands? Because the former isn't going to tell you much of anything about links, just how many times your domain name appears in the text of your own and other sites.

The link commands on Yahoo are:

link:http://www.yourdomain.com/ or link:http://www.yourdomain.com/somepage.html This one proposes to tell you how many links there are to the specific page you give in the query.

and

linkdomain:yourdomain.com This one is supposed to tell you all of the links they know about pointing to your site, regardless of which page is being linked to.

For the best look at links with Yahoo, don't use the search engine, use Y! Site Explorer.

Y Site Explorer is cool! But it's still in Beta? When was it launched? I agree that the results there differ from the results in yahoo search.
