I was forwarded the URL of the "SEO" site in question.

Here's how they do it. The engines on their list include Excite and Infospace. These use PPC ads WITHIN their results. So all they have to do is buy PPC ads and then show you 50 top 10 rankings in those engines and the others that mix ads with search results, and they have fullfilled their guarantee.

Any guinea pig SEO could do it.

Jill

This can be possible with Excite or Infospace. But what about Google? :D

What about Google? They never say they will get you high rankings in ALL the engines. Just 50 high rankings. They could all be at Excite and the other pieces of crap engines that just use paid results.

"Site will be ranked in the top 10 positions of Google, Yahoo, AOL, AskJeeves, Lycos, Excite, Infospace, iWon, Netscape, Hotbot, AllTheWeb, Teoma, Metacrawler, Mamma, Infospace and Webcrawler within 10 days"

This is what they are saying!

You have to read it all. They just need 50 top 10 rankings in any of those engines. At least that's how I read it. ANY of them. Not ALL.

Jill is right, i read it all yesterday and they have ambiguity throughout, things like most of the following search engines, and 'almost all' which is a contradiction in terms (i did learn something in English even if it wasn't how to spell or construct decent sentences) :tooth:

This really is a case of BS. take a few sentences out of their copy ad you will see that they are offering something that APPEARS to be one thing, but in reality is quite another, we call it , pulling the 'wool over your eyes'

pulling the 'wool over your eyes

I haven't heard that term since my Grandparents or my Dad used to use it ;-)

I have a question...how can we all be successful if we are all selling widgets???? Is it because some are selling Acme and other BrandX? Or because some are blue and others are purple? :lmao:

You can have success selling the same widgets as 50 other people, you just have to have an angle. The company I'm with , we maintain the same angle online that we do in our store. We sell three kinds of very complicated and expensive widgets, and parts and accessories for those. These widgets are generally known throughout the industry as being the best, but there are others out there selling them, many selling them cheaper than we will. But, we have a guy here who's been working with these widgets for over 30 years and has a reputation in the industry as one of the best. And, because we have a higher markup than a lot of people, we can afford a quality staff to work under him. So in buying from us, the customer gets the best support possible for these complicated widgets, and there are enough of us that we can take care of them quickly.
Whether you're lucky enough to have an angle like this one or not, there's always something you can do, that a portion of your target consumers will prefer. Maybe you have a large inventory so you can offer fast shipping, or maybe even you're just on the west coast, so you can offer extended hours for overnite delivery to east coast customers (I use this one too). Maybe you can offer accessories for your widgets... a million different things.

If they make the promise it will be done and say it's going to cost this much money why care how it's done

because it won't last once they get paid , they stop the ppc campaign.

then your gone from the top 10 and back where you belong

IMO, it's all about branding and perceived value.

Many of us are all selling SEO services. And yet some are busier than others.

Companies like the scammer in question in this thread are probably very busy because of the perceived value they offer. They charge very little, they claim to give you a lot for your money, and not only that -- you can get your money back (supposedly) if you do not get what they say you will get.

They make it appear as if there's no risk involved to use their service. Which may or may not be true. Who knows? Maybe they're great SEOs and are not pulling the wool over anyone's eyes.

I'm thinking of anonymously testing them out one of these days. Anyone have a site they want "optimized" that they don't mind risking?

Good old Geordie humour! - that's a very nice way of explaining a 5-0 defeat!

Why don't we build a small site especially for them, preferably in a particularly competitive business??

>Ian the psychic can tell you where your car keys are right now. They are in a shady place, but there is a light nearby. There is water to the south. There something green a short distance away, and I sense a precious memory is triggered by an object nearby.>

They're in my boyfriend's pants pocket! And he's wearing a green shirt! And standing in a puddle! How did you know???!!! :stunned:
