I am pretty certain I know the answer but, I would like something more definitive.

I have been working with a client who is very proactive and informed about SEO. Currently is working on a linking campaign.

He has created a "suggest a link" page which has some code and a form for users to fill out. He asks, on the page, that a reciprocal link would be nice but not required.

Then there is an FAQ area about this. "Why trade Links with us?" type of questions. The URL - the one providing answers to the questions - goes off to a link management company that I presume he is using to manage this.

The problem, I think, is that the link management company provides an LMS (link management system) however, they are not indexed in Google, most of the menu links return 404's. On the face of it very dodgy. The company is UK based {AND NOT ALLOWED TO BE NAMED (Forum Rules and all).
What CaliGirl might be better asking is for any suggestion of good (I can't believe I am going to use this TLA) LMS or software, or perhaps a way to manage this stuff in some sorta DB.
- Mike}.

Cheers,
CaliGirl

Welcome CaliforniaGirl! bye1.gif

Lots of threads on automated linking software here.

Basically, most of us would very strongly recommend against using them.

Thanks - no company names: noted!

I had a strong hunch that Jill's recmmendation is what I would hear.

OK, so is there any recommendations for reputable systems? I want to provide my client with a viable solution. Is the alternative self-management?

I will also read the other threads about automated linking software.

Thanks for your help,
CaliGirl

The alternative is creating such a great and unique site that once people hear of it, they link to it just because.

To me, that's almost the only way to do it these days. You'll find that nearly every site that has been around a number of years has these kinds of links, even though they never set out to get them. (That's one reason I like working with older sites!)
