As for why you might want to link to a bad neighbourhood, if you're writing about certain areas in this sector, it would be good to be able to give "live" examples without the risk of negative comebacks......

Sure, but that's not the same as actually trading links with some sites and then being an ass and nofollowing them.

You either are recommending them or your not.

Writing an article is a different matter entirely and you truly are saying that you don't necessarily trust the link when you use the nofollow in that case.

Don't give up, I was enjoying the forum tennis

(Incidently, I agree with you. Most Don't include link pages for the public, if they are honest with themselves. They include them as part of their overall promotion strategy for Google. I wonder how many surfers actually read link pages anyway)

You're absolutely right!

But most posting here about this stuff don't even use links pages. In my opinion, they don't belong on most business sites and I would never put one on a client's site where they didn't belong.

Much better to link to half a dozen respected links that you DO trust and DO check regularly than to have thousands that you don't have the time or the inclination to check. It only takes ONE of those thousands of links to get barred by Google, or for their domain to expire and then get bought out by a porno site for you to lose all credibility, and the positioning you worked so hard to attain.

Although, having said that, a lot of people have thousands of "automated links" simply because they CAN'T BE BOTHERED to manage their links properly, OR to write proper content, and so they see pages and pages of links in their sites as being some kind of substitute for content, and they find a program that does all the work for them and leave it at that - so when the stuff hits the fan in the inevitable changes at Google they will deserve to lose positions - and it's only a matter of time, especially when people like me advise their clients to use Google's Spam Report Form on a regular basis...

If I find sites in front of me on Google who have hundreds of links on the same page, or are using multiple domains containing all the same links or content, then I WILL report them - business is business, and there are only ten top 10 positions after all...!!!

madams - I was enjoying it as well... ;-)

Frankly speaking, HighRankings forum *seems* to be basically focused on increasing 'conversion rates' of sites rather than their search engine positionings. So she is right about what she said. Being a big fan of hers, I respect her views without arguement. She rocks!

Yep I'd go along there, one dubious link isn't going to get you banned outright.
It would be more likely to be of a sliding (possibly logarithmic) scale of markdowns against however they markup sites

Apart from link campaign what is other solution for link popularity?

According to google algorithm reciprocal linking is not required but it is appreciated
so I would like to know whether it is a right solution to go directory listing or non-reciprocal linking

Please do let me know whether keywords are taken under consideration in googles algorithm?????

Please do let me know the procedure till date to improve link building????????

Yep, we are all about optimizing the whole site, not just about getting rankings at the expense of your site. Getting rankings for a crappy site isn't nearly as effective or long-term as getting rankings for a great site.

Some places are all about the rankings- we are about being profitable and rankings are part of the equation.

Welcome meenaz! bye1.gif

And specifically the Link Building Articles posted there! You should get lots of creative ideas from those. The important thing is that you have to start with a link-worthy site. If you have that the other pieces should fall into place.
