While doing a search on "professional seo" I noticed an article that was submitted to ezinearticles.com around 11/3 is showing 3 times on the first page of Google. And I counted 7 times the same article showed on Google's top 100 results. There are probably other sites that are displaying the same article that we do not know of.
I'm just wondering if Google would consider this same article appearing on so many sites as spam? Also, it appears that if you are submitting articles as a link popularity strategy you could actually be helping others optimize and rank their sites for your search phrases.
Any opinions? I know there have been discussions on the board about article submissions but I'm interested in knowing if anybody here uses articles as a link popularity strategy?

They're showing them in the results, so they obviously don't consider them spam.

So? Why does that matter? If the search engines think something is spam, they don't show it, right?

If you repeat keywords on the same page it is spam.
Repeated content on the same website is also spam.
In general anythgin done specifally for SEs to see and not for the users is spam

So? What if a page on another site optimized for "dirty socks", features your article on your new super-duper sock-cleaning powder, with a link to your website, ranks #1? Isn't that a dream come true?

Also, you want links from strong sites, right? If adding your article to a site helps it become stronger, then , that inbound link gets a little better.
