They are giving away Urchin for free?
That's pretty awesome. Shows how valuable all that data they will gather because of this, is to them.

Yep! I just signed up and added the code to the forum.
Using this instead of logs should make it much more manageable for me for this particular site!

Now I have to decide if I should tell all my clients to use this (and give me access), or stick with the plan to buy ClickTracks.

This is great indeed. Having to insert Google Analytics code in the page source is better than depending on logfiles (proxy, sessions, etc) so we get more accurate stats figures.

Yes, this would come 2 weeks after I forked out $1200 for ClickTracks!

ClickTracks is still a better option, IMHO, because of the risk. Do you want the largest company privvy to all that data? The price they ask is only right for smaller clients. For anyone else, pony up and keep your data yours.

Sorry, but that's one of the silliest statements I've heard all month.
They don't expect you to have anything. If you don't want to be found by them, then you don't need them. They're obviously not trying to get those pages found in the search engines.

I added it last night, and it's still not tracking my data though. Plus, the account stuff is going really slowly as I assume the rest of the world is just hearing about it.
It said it would start tracking data in 12 hours, so I probably have a few more hours to wait.

All I can say is Wow!
I expected them to do something with Urchin, but not make it totally free! I'll have to set aside some time to slap it up on one of my personal sites to see how it compares to the real Urchin data. At first glance it looks really good though.
