Hi everyone.

I have recently set up a site on a US server with a .com domain name registered in the UK. I setup the web site in the US because I am aware that the IP address of your server determines the country index of google that you appear in and I wanted to market my services to the US.

I am now concerned that my site will not be ranked as google may not be able to tell wether my site is UK or US as the WhoIs information shows my UK address and that this conflict my cause google to get confused and do nothing with my site.

I currently have a Page Rank of 0 on my home page and no page rank on all other pages. I have links to my site from other sites with positive page ranks including sites I own but they don't show in google if I check back links. My sites are crawled several times a week including this new one. My Site is in google but its just not going anywhere. I have been very carful not to spam and have followed the advise given out in Jills newsletters before and again this time. I have even ensured that my IP address is not listed in SpamCop as a server that have been reported for email spamming as I remember reading somewhere that this may have an influence on rankings.

The site was set up a month ago. I know that I should probably wait a few more weeks but I am concerned about how google might use WhoIs information combined with the IP address.

If anyone has any comments on this subject I should be most grateful to hear them.

Thanks folks.

Alex.

Welcome, Alex! :D

I don't believe that Google looks at whois data.

You really just need to give it time. Your site is new. If you have no outgoing links, Google will probably not list you also.
