The site [removed] is around #54 on Yahoo and #90 on Excite. It has no backlinks, so far, so I think that ranking is fine for now. It is functional as a directory, but it needs to have the ad part completed and some more content/articles added. Some of that will be finished this week.
Anyway, while I can find my site easily on Yahoo and Excite, I would need to hire Lewis and Clark to find it on Google. I have thought about making a Google Site-map, but when I looked up the info Google had, well, I think I could learn C++ programming faster. So, if anyone here has had experience creating a Google Site map, I would really appreciate a bit of an idea as to how hard or easy it actually is to do. I wouldn't mind taking a few hours to make one, but I have too many other things to do to spend a week on it.
Thanks,
Pete

If the site has less than 750 pages, you can use this tool to generate a sitemap.

Also, just to mention it...
If you're searching for your site using something other than Google's site:yourdomain.com operator you're probably not going to find it there Pete. See our aging delay thread for more info on this.
Also know that you'll need to get some incoming links pointing at your site. Google especially will not fully index or list your site if you have no links pointing at your site. It's important for all of the search engines, but especially so where Google is concerned.

Thanks for the link, qwerty. I'll give it a try. I do have more than 750 pages, but I only want about 100 to be indexed in the site-map. Since the others are all in State folders, and the ones I want to include are in the root, my bet is it will work.
Thanks Randy, I believe that aging thing to be correct, so, eventually it should work out OK. I mean last I checked, time was moving forward.
