presumably the pages that Yahoo has indexed as a result of me subscribing to the Direct submit service will stay in its index.

Well, it really depends on why your pages aren't in to begin with. Even if you pay, you may see extremely poor results if Yahoo has decided your pages don't have enough quality. The good thing about paying is you can sometimes find out why they don't like yours.

I would suggest just trying a page or two to see how it goes.

And if they are good quality will they stay in the index after the funds have run out?

Not necessarily. They are different databases. And the fact that you're not in now, might signal a problem with Yahoo spidering them. So if the problem still exists, I imagine when the funds run out, you'll be in the same boat as you are now.

Oh is getting a Yahoo listing such difficult! I never thought so. When the site is crawled by Google and MSN without any problems then why not in Yahoo. I just cant understand. My site is not indexed properly in Yahoo. But I have been building incoming links steadily. Even Yahoo shows a backlink of 99 when I use link: command, then why is it so difficult to get it indexed. Also I do have a sitemap with text links to other parts of site. Is it that everyone goes for paid inclusion programs in order to get indexed.

For whatever reason, they just may not be interested in your site. Is it unlike any others that they already have indexed?

Hi Jill,
Sorry I was on a holiday. I dont think the site is any different from any other site in the industry. It is small shopping cart site has usual images of products, pricing, menus like services, products, and of course contact and sitemap as well. It had also been recently updated with a few flash features. Might this be the problem for not indexing. I check everyday and I get different counts for the indexed pages. Yesterday it was 20 today it is only 6. I have already written to Yahoo twice regarding this.

Perhaps that's your problem then?

The engines have no reason to list the same basic sites/products over and over again, and are beginning to look for the unique ones that offer some sort of added value.

You may need to think about what kind of value you can add that others aren't adding, and then you'll have a better chance of getting into all the engines.

Hi, I'm having problems too. Yahoo told me on Saturday:

"We are currently experiencing some technical issue with the submission
form for Yahoo! Search. I apologize for the inconvenience, but the issue
should be resolved within a few days. "

We'll see

Hi,
Finally yesterday a got listings from Yahoo for the site I spoke of. A total of 25 pages. Except for a few most had indexed listings with titles and description.
It had taken nearly 6 months after it was initially indexed in June.

Here is a not so well known tip for having your site indexed by Yahoo that plays a very large part in addresing indexing issues that Yahoo for what ever reason seens to have...

Create and upload a robots.txt file to your site. A simple robots.txt file has addressed indexing issues for many of our clients that had Yahoo indexing issues.

Cheers
David
