Sandbox And Buying Links
Posted 01 October 2005 - 12:06 PM
What does buying a lot of links mean? For instance, we bought links on Yahoo, Skaffe, Wow and JoAnt... is that considered a lot?

No, that normal.
A lot would be purchasing links from a network where suddenly you went from 0 incoming links to hundreds overnight.

Some link brokers seem to have noticed that buying hundreds or thousands of links at a time might cause the same effect, but since nobody here does that, I'm not sure that it is documented here.
There's definitely such a thing as aging delay. But most of us are not too clear about any other reason why one might get into the sandbox. (Try Webmasterworld as you get a lot of link buyers and sellers there, I think.)

It will generally take any new site 9 - 12 months to get rankings in Google due to the aging delay, but that has nothing to do with its PR. You will still gain that and link popularity and get indexed. Just not found much for keywords that are important to you.
