I was recently told by an 'SEO expert' (how many of them ACTUALLY exist!!??) that it would be an excellent idea to start writing articles on my field of expertise (giclee printing) and use article distribution services to help promote my site.
This seemed like an excellent idea to me, and I have posted a couple of articles, but before I go gung-ho at this, I thought that I'd ask the real SEO experts - this forum - if anyone had any comments on this method of promotion?
Thanks in advance for the advice...
Steve

I'm no expert at anything let alone SEO, but I do write articles as a way of generating interest in my services and it works like a charm.

I don't have much experience in this line but have some useful point so want to share with you. when you are going to write any content or articles.
1. Weave in the supplied keywords in the article. Each article should be a minimum of 700 to 1000 words.
2. You can exceed the 700 words level to some extent(up to 1000 words). But it should not be less than that.
3. Use the supplied keywords - 5 to 7 in each page (article).
4 Use American type spellings for your article b'cos max of user are from USA - : A sampling of US and British (Indians use British spellings) is provided below:
USA - British
color - colour
favor - favour
faucet - tap
optimize - optimise
sidewalk - pavement
It may help for you to start any content.
Thanks

It's time consuming, but it's something I do a lot of when I can find the time.

An alternative to this would be setting up your own blog site (e.g. blogger.com) and posting there. But I have seen a lot of sites with blogs and no one ever posts except the owner of the blog
Press releases are great too but they are definitely an artform in their own right so do some research before writing one. I wrote a press release this spring which helped me receive exposure in a major national newspaper publication here in Canada. They picked up my release on a newswire and it happened from there. Cost me nothing but a few hours of my time to write the piece.
There are a vast number of good places to post your articles on the web. One I like is ideamarketers.com. No cost to you as an author.
