As an addition to OWG's post on "Getting Paid", I'd like to ask the question of "What types of clients are the absolute worst bill payers?"
I have been in this industry for about 7 years now and I would have to say without any comparism whatsoever that medical companies (hospitals, doctors, etc.) are the absolute worst bill payers. I have found that because they are used to getting paid themselves by the insurance companies on a 90 days net basis, that they seem to think everyone of their vendors deserves the same treatment.
How about you other business owners out there? Without naming names of course, what types of business in your experience do you see as being the worst bill payers?

I cant think of any general types of late payers, although Ive come across the odd one or two who try to hide behind a "our payment terms are 90 days" clause!

The bigger the company the slower the payment cycle in my experience, AND beleive it or not, but THE worse payers in my experience have been local government, minimum of 90 days from the month end of invoice.

For me - it's realtors.
It's not the 90 days, it's "Oh! that's right! Ok I'll send it" followed next month with the same conversation over and over again <sigh>
