probably a shot in the dark this, but is there a list of precisely who uses what search engine?
for example, if i submit to lycos insite i get listings on:
lycos, hotbot, alltheweb, overture, terra, about, excite, dogpile, msn, espotting and more.
so one submission gets my site to an awful lot of search engines.
now, submitting to google, where else do my results appear? i suspect aol and btopenworld (to name but a few) but i was wondering if anyone knew of a definitive guide??

:)

here's hopin'!

:)
hand on a second. i know who uses what search engine, ive had the diagram for weeks!
sorry folks.
i thought about a question i had the answer to in a new way and thoroughly confused myself!
for those of you who are interested, the answer to my original question can be found on bruce clay's site.

sorry for the confusion - i need a lie down!

At first I thought you were wondering who (as in which people) use Google to search with.

I was going to answer it with...EVERYONE!

Chris:

Here is a site I have seen with a semidecent table of the "search engine family tree". Its from an article by Danny Sullivan on the Search Engine Watch website

http://searchenginew...p/34701_2156401

Hopefully this should help. Although fairly recent, I can't really speak for its accuracy too much, as I haven't really tested it out too much. Maybe someone else here can.

Danny keeps that stuff fairly up to date, so I bet it's good.

This one is better than Bruce Cay's: http://www.ihelpyou....ngine-chart.htm
Apparently it is still under development but it sure looks good!
