I'm curious how you can check your PR on a Mac ? The google bar is not available right ?

Nope.
I have a Mac too, and my solution is to just not check my PR... ;)

I really don't know how we're meant to.
I use Mozilla on Windows anyway when I'm on my PC at work, so I never remember to check there either. *shrug*

I'm a frayed knot.

Oh dear, it's late enough in the day that I'm quoting the punchlines of bad "walked into a bar" jokes. Right-o...

You a Mac user? I'm really excited that there might be someone else on this board who gives a hoot when I post dribbly things about Panther (Like in this thread.) and other Mac stuff....

You could sign the petition. I don't know if G will pay any attention to it, though. I suppose if enough Mac users bought stock when Google has its IPO they'll have to listen.

You're lucky you can't check it. You won't have to become obsessed with it.

Just pretend it doesn't exist and you'll be fine!

(Of course you can always use the Google directory PR bar too...shhhhh)

aaahh! so is there a difference between the google directory PR bar and the actual google tool bar ? Is it more detailed in one case than the other ?

Try over at SEO Chat. Someone there built a web based tool to check the PageRank on all known datacentres (love obsessive people :applause:). I want to state clearly that this is probably against the Google TOS, so it may not last long. Also, I have never used it (or I would give you the URL), but for a Mac user (and I too have an iMac @ home, and know the frustration being left out can cause), it might be a useful tool to use.

For mine, I rarely look at PageRank. On my PC, I never use IE, I either use Crazy Broswer if the site only works in IE, or I use Opera, 'cause it is much better, and focused far more on giving me options. Not knowing PageRank rarely effects me, but then I guess I always have that option!!!

BTW, if all you want to know is the PageRank of your site, maybe drop the URL and someone can tell you.

Do you think it is safe to use their tool as a site owner ?

Sure, safe enough. If you have Virtual PC, you could also always run taht, but then that kinda defeats the purpose of having a Mac, no?

I have to confess I'm only a recent convert to the Think Different cause. I started out on OS 10.2.
(10.3 RULES.) My boyfriend converted me and he's a software engineer for Macs. So... I get the extra-geeky perspective on Macs.
Anyhow...
Meh, don't worry about PageRank! The rare occasions I use the toolbar on the PC, it doesn't work half the time. So...

I guess if I didn't have any way to look at it I'd be mad and want to, so ...

Dragonlady and Jill are right- you're probably better off without it!

Since installing that damned tool bar on my pc at work all I've done is give myself headaches, ulcers and heart attacks. You start becoming obsessive over the craziest crap and printing up your backward links to see if they drop and if they did which ones. Could I leave it now? Of course not. I'm like an addict, scouring the gutters for my next problem even though I know not too and wish I had never started. And it all started with a "Hey, check this out . . ." Maybe you'll use it wisely. :D All I've done is make myself sick with the damned thing.
