Have you guys read about "Search Submit" offered by Yahoo!? Below is what Yahoo! says about it at http://search.yahoo....nfo/submit.html

Search Submit:
- Ensure that your web pages are included in the Yahoo! Search index.
- Guaranteed quality review by editors for relevance.
- Not intended for placement or ranking in search results.

What are your ideas about the feature 'Not intended for placement or ranking in search results.' - whether that will help the people get any better rankings?

Is it possible they will give (slightly ) higher rankings to those sites using this service just to promote the service temporarily ?

You can share your expert ideas and thoughts with others about Yahoo! Search Submit service here...

It's good service to utilize until you get your SEO in order. But if your SEO is top notch, you should have no need for it.

Actually I see no need for Site Submit. Why pay inclusion fees and then pay per click fees on top of that when Yahoo does a fine job indexing web sites for free?

The only reason why a person would do Site Submit in my thinking is if their content is not accessible for regular crawling for some reason or another. Other than that, make sure your pages are crawlable, get a few links in some of the top directories or on a site already in their index and Yahoo will find your site on their own.

As one of the Yahoo Search Submit partners, this is the official line:

These are the main benefits:
- Ensure that your web pages are included in the Yahoo! Search index within 1 week. (if approved) So if you are in a rush this is good to get in then stop the program once your site is indexed for free.

- Great for sites that have frequently changing content, as Yahoo re-crawls your site every 48 hours...

- Additional benefit is that if you are doing SEO on the page, you can see the results of your work within 48 hours, instead of waiting for a month for the normal crawl to come by.

- keyword reporting with rankings, Yahoo provides a comprehensive report of all keywords that generated clicks along with their average rank.. again great for SEO, easy to check if your SEO has worked or made things worse.

- If you order from Priority Submit and you are an SEO (or a Trellian Partner) we provide 15% rebates on the review fees and on the click fees, making this a little bit better in terms of pricing!

Now if you do not find that the above reasons are compelling enough, then this program is not for you. Wait for Yahoo! to crawl your site for free.

Cheers
David

Count me as a sucker who fell for the yahoo plan.
We sell hydrant markers and driveway markers, our driveway marker page is pretty bad on the engine front, altough we have a PPC link on the pages.

So I joined.. I paid for www.hyviz.com and www.hyviz.com/hyvis/drive.htm

guess what.. my main page was REJECTED, and the drive page was accepted.. so I figure.. ok what's wrong? I call.. I write no answer I call again.. turns out they can't/won't tell me WHY my main page was rejected, only to "look at the guidelines" so I do,, i STILL don't see what is wrong.. so their suggestions??...

get this.. pay ANOTHER 29 bucks to RE-SUBMIT it!

no suggestions on what to do, or if something is wrong with the page.. so there is nothing for me to change.. no suggestions.. no help.. no nothing...

Their suggestion is to go to one of their "suggested" sites and have them look at it.. for several hundred dollars!!

I only wanted to submit the drive.htm page since it is updated often, but now I am pretty mad about the whole thing.. I wish there was a site that could check my main page and tell me what is so wrong about it.. lol

It absoluetly helps rankings. We had a page, let's say "All about digital cameras" on our site. The page ranked around number 15 in regular yahoo search results.

We added that URL to our Search Submit account. The same "All about digital cameras" page with the Yahoo rds redirect (the same page, but being tracked by Yahoo Search Submit) ranked number 2. In the same set of search results was the regular "All about digital cameras" page still ranking around number 15.

Bottom line, if it's worth the 14 or whatever cents a click for the traffic you'll get. Do some math & see if you can figure it out. If you rank #5, what kind of traffic numbers might you get (harder to guesstimate), and how much money might you make from it (easy to calculate).

Or test for a short period of time & get real numbers.

Hi Nancy,

That is by far the biggest problem with the Yahoo Search Submit program... absolutely no communication as to why a site is rejected from Yahoo.

As one of the 4 global partner sites, we have picked up on why a site is rejected in most cases, but even we do not get told why a site is rejected by Yahoo.

This is by far the most frustrating part about the entire program.

One of these days Yahoo will get off their butts and do something about it.
(just don't hold your breath)

I have a website that was delisted from Yahoo about 5 years ago. Since then site has had a complete redesign (overhaul). Notwithstanding, the site still does not appear in Yahoo's organic listings. Will submiting my site to Yahoo via Yahoo's Search Submit Basic service get my site back into Yahoo's organic search results and give it fighting chance or will Yahoo continue to penalize the site even after submiting it via the Search Submit Basis service?[

If you get accepted to Yahoo Search Submit Basic - and you get a lot of traffic, they'll eventually boot you out. Especially if you use Google Adsense. And they won't tell you why... I submit for the measly $50.00 fee, got accepted, received tons of traffic, and three weeks later - got booted out. Nothing about my site changed from when I was originally accepted a few weeks prior...
